Murphy's Law: Pessimistic or Optimistic?
Ever heard about Murphy's Law? Here’s what it states:
Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
It means, if everything has the possibility to go wrong, it will go wrong. Sounds pessimistic?
What are some examples of this?
- The bread always falls on the buttered side
- We’re stuck at red lights when we are in a hurry
- Or even what just happened to me, my phone suddenly couldn’t reboot when I surely needed it as my internet tethering
Even though it might sound pessimistic, from another point of view, we can see this law as optimistic. Optimistic about being able to do better and avoid mistakes. Optimistic about making a system that can make sure everything is going well and meets a high standard. So it can make us be well prepared.
Simply, it’s just a reminder that we have to be ready for the worst case.
